Birthday Bumps!

Girish "Gilli-Danda" Wadhwani and Family blew into NYC these past few weeks to enjoy some good ol' family time with yours truly. The trip sadly ended far too soon, but at least we were all together to celebrate his 30th birthday! (ahem!) He insisted to cutting the cake with hungry little tot Sameera, who was more interested in what happens AFTER the cutting. As it turns out, so was he. :) PLEASE JOIN ME IN WISHING HIM A "VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!"

Dancin' In The Street!

Happy 21st Birthday to our not-so-lil Raina! The night started out in secret at the apartment of someone known only as "Deep-Glass." Raina and her guests were plied with alcohol waaay before her midnight hour! After being suitably doused, drunk, and disorderly, the crowd headed to NYC hotspot Neogea. Friends and family turned out throughout the night to wish Raina and join us in a few drinks to celebrate...her being able to drink! I, being sworn to silence (nothing to do with a hazy memory), can only provide the following details: there was table dancing, Knicks cheerleaders, and a few good men. What? Who said that?

VW.

Family Dinners

The creme de la creme of cafe sociey gathered Saturday night at the Long Island abode of Sapna and Nitin. We were all there for dinner; held in honour of Ravina Kriplani and children Hamit, Yezzmina, and Maheer, who are on their annual pilgrimmage to Umrica. The crowd poured in, displaying the latest fashions in true Sindhi style, and of course, arrived fashionably late.

As the Veuve Cliquot flowed and we indulged in the ample spread (esp. those famous brownies), we were entertained by the breakdance stylings of local HOT-lanta-ite Shaan Wadhwani. There were cheers all around as he spun himself into a dizzying array of headstands and other moves for which I have no name! Brothers Jay and Neil were on hand as well to help warm up the crowd! As we chowed down, a game of Texas Hold 'Em was started, and this particular game ended with a few rounds of Blackjack (after which I am much richer in imaginary money).

Apres-dinner, Sapna treated us to an exclusive preview of Vintage '85 LISA Holi footage - we watched in amazement as we witnessed Vijay, Pankaj, Sharmila, Anil, and Nitin prancing around the stage in all their adolescent glory! Their kids stopped in their tracks and watched in wide-eyed wonderment - no doubt scarred for life from these images!

As the evening wrapped up, certain single members of the party (ahem!) grabbed all the leftovers they could and stumbled out happily into the night. Which reminds me: Shaan Neil and Jay - if your car smells suspiciously of Thai food...well, you know, one does tend to become a bit absent-minded after an evening of shots...you'll find the offending article at the back, behind the headrests. So Sorry!

Stylishly Yours,

Vikki Wadhwani.
