Wadhwani Way

Vikki Wadhwani

I recieved photographic evidence today that beloved Wadhwani elder and my dada, Nari, is recovering well from his recent surgery and is back at home. Although he has been instructed to take it easy for a few more weeks, he keeps trying to sneak out to the factory and get back to his cherised work...Forced relaxation seems to be agreeing with him though, as is evident in the picture below! Son Anil is paying him a visit (first time to India in YEARS), and is enjoying the hospitality of the Bombay family! Below, Kishore, Nirmla & Nari, with their young 'un Anil in between!

Nari can be reached by phone at any one of the Society's 1st floor flats...We all love you lots & wish you back to 100% health soon!

Mother's Day Madness!

Vikki Wadhwani

Prem On was the location of this year's Mother's Day brunch in the city. Honorees: Nima Wadhwani, Rattan Samtani, and Sanjana Samtani. Attendees: Everyone else.
Nima and Rattan were delighted to both receive identical silver mini-ipods, pre-loaded with music. They must be the most high-tech grandmas on the planet! So kids out there, the standards have been upped. No more flowers and macaroni necklaces. The flowers better be exotic, and the macaroni necklaces? Made out of gold.

To All Mothers in our Family:

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Double-Digit Day!

Vikki Wadhwani

May 5th 2005 marked the 10th birthday of our very own Kabir (Kabu) Samtani! He celebrated with 15 of his closest friends - treating them to a Korean BBQ lunch which was then followed by games. After plenty of sugary drinks and a huge iced-cake, Kabu returned home to find that he had a following; some of his "Umrican" friends had such fun that they refused to leave until forcibly removed from the premises! In the evening, this reporter was invited to join the festivities with Kabir and his family at his "Ma" Rattan's house, where he was greeted with pizza and pasta from local legend Patsy's, Sushi, as well as another cake! Lucky him! It has been brought to my attention that afterwards, Kabir, Pravir, and Henna were too high on sugar to sleep, and kept their parents, Sanjana and Vijay, up all night playing Rummykub.

"I Don't Care How You Get Here, Get Here When You Can..."

Vikki Wadhwani

I am pleased to report that after having not seen my mum, Meelu Wadhwani in over 7 months, we both made the long trek across borders and oceans (lakes in my case) to convene once again, at the end of April. Not in NY, not in London, but in Chicago, where we celebrated my Latu Masi's 45th birthday. It was great to see the "other side" again, which was made complete by Perry and Shyena, who joined us in plenty of time for the big birthday bash! Mum was thrilled to see her family again (see pic below), and although our time together was preciously short, we managed to catch up somewhat and thoroughly enjoy the weekend. Over the course of our time together, we did what all Wadhwani women love to do - shop, gossip, shop some more, and laugh! Love you lots Mum, it's impossible to make up 7 months in 6 days, but we gave it the good ol' college try!
